Rutgers, American public research university hit by Denial Of Service Attack

The Rutgers University officials stated on Tuesday that, the computer network of Rutgers University is under cyber-attack and accountable for continuous interruptions in internet services.

Rutgers University (American public research university and the largest institution for higher education in New Jersey) states its most recent Internet blackout is from the same sort of “Denial of Service” cyber-attack that disabled campus PCs in the beginning of this month.

On Monday, at almost 10 A.M. the internet services went down throughout the campus. Numerous online functions were inaccessible to faculty members, university staff and students even after 24 hours.

According to the University officials they were making efforts to overcome the situation, which started on 28th of April when DoS attack caused extensive interruptions in internet. Authorities said that the attack came in the busy time for the Rutgers University, just 9 days prior to course registration and final examinations.

Not too long ago, On Friday, 27th March, the Rutgers University was hit by a DoS (Denial of Service) attack, and until 31st March, the service off and on campus was not fully restored. According to the School authorities they hadn’t detected any leakage of private and confidential data.

An update was posted on the Rutgers OIT’s Facebook account, authorities stated the internet interruptions were linked to the DoS (Denial of Service). The message reads as, “OIT staff are continuing to work on restoring services.”

As of 5:30 PM on Monday, April 27th, the Rutgers University Network is continuing to experience technical difficulties….

The blackouts made issues for the University, which like different campus has gotten to be exceedingly dependent on internet services. The students of the University said they couldn’t get to internet classes, register for classes or complete full school work. Authorities reported that it would augment course enlistment.

For the sake of investigating Routers has been functioning with FBI. On Tuesday, a spokeswoman of FBI stated that at the moment she couldn’t say anything on the investigation.

According to Rutgers’s Twitter status, “The University’s network continues to experience problems and OIT staff are still working to restore services. Thank you for your patience.”
