How to fix Netflix proxy error

Getting Netflix proxy error? You’re not alone! Due to the increasing phenomenon of people gaining access to geographically restricted content, Netflix has recently started banning VPN and SmartDNS from accessing their service. The step taken by Netflix isn’t the fair solution for kinda blocking users to access their Geo-restricted video streaming.

Some would say, Netflix is literally cracking on piracy by doing this but I (actually we all at SecurityGladiators.com) don’t agree! Because it might be making many users extremely frustrating, as Netflix is actually making users pay for the shows they don’t want, and the ones they “do want” aren’t available in their country.

You are paying for service, you are legal consumer of the service – why not you should have the freedom to use it how you want? This is a decision that has not been made overnight, rather than a growing need on behalf of Netflix to establish some ground rules as to the broadcasting of its various versions.

Fix Netflix Proxy ErrorThe issue was brought to light by uFlix at first, with a statement that goes as follows: “Some users are starting to have issues with Netflix blocking non-Australian content when going through uFlix. Though it is only affecting a few users at the moment, we expect this number to grow. We are working on a solution to get around these new measures and apologize for the inconvenience to those who are currently only getting Australian Netflix.”

In this case, users who attempted to access restricted content were displayed the following message: “You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy. Please turn off any of these services and try again.” Of course, this is just a drop on the ocean; however, the wider picture has been painted!

What can be done for fixing Netflix proxy error?

Fortunately, every problem has its solution and fixing Netflix proxy error is no exception to this rule. In order to do that and be successful, though, you need to be extra careful and dig deeper. Since Netflix has become stricter about the use of VPNs and SmartDNS for accessing restricted content, a narrower filter has been applied.

This means that Netflix has separated bad service providers from good ones (in other words, service providers who respect their attempt to restrict content from service providers who still wish to serve their clients first).

Do you want to have a VPN or SmartDNS service provider that does not cover your needs and does not allow you to surf the web appearing from whichever part of the planet you want? If not, you should take some safety precautions and check twice!

Even though Netflix is blocking VPNs and proxies by general but sill there are few that are still supported. Whether you wish to use VPN or SmartDNS, check out our recommendations for avoiding Netflix proxy server error below.

  1. Its not Netflix obligation nor right to do this, limiting content due to geographical location is against the human right of choice!!!
They are not to police that, also google and other companies are doing the same, killing the freedom of the internet, who did assign you as internet police!!!!

    • That’s strange Pat, I tested both Unlocator as well as ExpressVPN at my end just today – both are working perfect. Can you please double check? Also, try different servers. Hope it helps, thank you!

    • Hi Phil, I had the same issue with Unlocator but their team fixed it for me. I’d suggest you to contact their support, and of course, ExpressVPN is working perfectly as I keep testing both of the methods listed in the article. VPN is the recommended way, anyway. Hope it helps!

  2. Some Netflix subscribers have been a bit disgruntled lately. The video streaming service’s attempts to block Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are succeeding to a large extent, as many popular VPNs no longer let you watch videos on Netflix.*********

  3. We believe that Netflix is using IP2Proxy to detect and to block proxy traffics. We found out that our VPN’s IP address is listed in the database and Netflix rejected our connection after that.

  4. I use NordVPN and can access US Netflix on all of my devices except my 2016 Samsung Smart TV. Checking on the TV’s browser shows it has the same public ip address as my other devices (all using my VPN router). This is despite changing my TV’s region to US during setup. Anyone know if Samsung TVs are region locked by hardware?

    • Hi Joe.
Our best advice would be to clear any cache or browsing history on your Samsung Smart TV.
      Sign out of any accounts.
      Make new ones if possible.
Of course, restarting the device is always an option.
Some TV models also have the option “internet service location”.
You can try changing that as well.
Do take note that there are different procedures to change your location for H-series and F-series Samsung TV sets.
