How to Install Kodi On Roku (Including Exodus JailBreak Roku)

Roku_and_kodi_enable_live_tv
Roku is possibly the best set-top box for mobile and TV.

Roku is probably one of the most widely used and well reviewed set-top boxes in the market today.

It is basically a media streaming device.

Using Roku, users can stream TV series along with movies and all other types of content with ease.

So how does Roku provide its content?

It provides content via Top Channels.

It is as simple as that.

To stream content from Roku, you have to connect the device to an internet connection.

You can do that with a wired connection or a WiFi.

This guide will show you how to install Kodi on Roku.

If you need a Roku then just head to Amazon and grab one.

How To Download Kodi For Roku?

First, let’s talk about the requirements.

If you want to stream HD content via Roku you will need a decent internet connection that has good speed.

Roku always tries to download content in FHD format and to stream that you need a fast internet connection.

The latest versions of Roku all support 4K streaming, and that means having a fast internet connection is a must.

The latest version of Roku is currently Roku 4.

If you have already purchased a 4K TV then great.

Roku can complement that 4K TV with its 4K streaming.

Now let’s come to Kodi.

Kodi is an open source media player.

If you want to watch an unlimited amount of content then you need to install Kodi on Roku.

But here is the thing:

You can’t install Kodi media player on Roku, the streaming device, just yet.

Kodi doesn’t work with Roku, in other words.

For those still confused about Kodi, its older name is XBMC.

The older XBMC is Kodi now.

XBMC is now non-existent.

The interesting thing about Kodi is that it only runs on,

  • Android
  • Mac OS X
  • Windows
  • Raspberry Pi
  • Some set-top boxes

Apart from that, it is quite difficult to make Kodi work.

Even with Raspberry Pi, you have to do a lot of tinkering with it in order to install Kodi on it.

But of course, you have access to guides like this one and hence that should not be a problem for you at this moment in time.

Right now you need to focus on how to install Kodi on Roku.

Why Would You Need Kodi?

You need Kodi because it is great.

It has won many awards and praises for its work in the open source media player niche.

Kodi enables users to stream Images, Movies, Videos along with any other type of content directly to your device from the internet.

Reasons Why You Can’t Install Kodi On Roku

Roku_live_streaming
If you can get Kodi on Roku then Live streaming is certainly possible.

First, let’s state the obvious.

There is no way to install Kodi on Roku by default.

Kodi for Roku doesn’t exist.

But you can install Kodi on other set-top boxes like Amazon Fire Stick using a great hack.

We’ll talk more about that in some later guide.

Right now we need to focus on Kodi and Roku.

As mentioned before, Kodi supports a lot of major operating systems and platforms.

But we didn’t go into the full detail of those.

So let’s list out the platforms and the operating systems that Kodi supports at the moment,

Right now, Kodi supports the following platforms,

  • Windows
  • Linux
  • Raspberry Pi
  • Android
  • Mac OS X

Remember, this list is the official list of Kodi supported platforms.

It doesn’t mean you can make Kodi work on other devices or platforms.

The problem for Roku is that it doesn’t make use of any of the above-mentioned platforms and operating systems.

Hence, you can’t install Kodi on Roku just yet.

Kodi is built with C and C++ and it is a native application of those languages.

Roku has no support for native C++ or C applications.

Even if it does have support for them, the fact is, currently you can’t use C++ applications on Roku.

Why doesn’t the team behind Kodi come up with an application for Roku?

No one really knows.

If someday, Roku comes to its senses and decides that it will support C++ and C application on the media player device then that would be great.

Kodi and Roku look like they could stream some serious content when combined together.

Right now though, you can’t install Kodi on Roku.

And no, you can’t install XBMC on Roku either.

So If We Can’t Install Kodi On Roku Then What Are We Doing Here?

Well, we only said that you can’t install Kodi on Roku.

Nobody said anything about casting Kodi content right on your Roku device.

Got you?

Right?

No?

Okay.

Fine. Let’s move on then.

Casting Kodi content on Roku is a bit different and difficult process than installing Kodi on Roku.

But who cares if at the end you can stream all of your Kodi content via Roku right?

For clarity’s sake, you should know that Kodi does not support Roku and vice versa.

But What About People Who Have Apple TV?

Well, good news for them.

They can directly install Kodi on their Apple TV devices.

No Roku needed.

How To Stream Kodi Content On Your Roku Device?

Roku is an interesting device.

Why do we say that?

We say that because using an Android device or even a Windows device, you can actually cast Kodi content to Roku.

So what do you need to do?

That’s right.

Get an Android or a Windows device.

Run Kodi with that device.

And then stream Kodi content to Roku from that device.

The Roku cast feature isn’t fully developed yet.

It is still in its beta stage.

Moreover, the cast feature is not available for the latest version of Roku.

The only version of Roku that supports the cast feature is Roku 3.

Important Stuff You Need To Know About Kodi

Kodi is a fantastic open source media player.

But it too needs the help of its minions to stream high-quality content.

In other words, you need to install some Kodi add-ons and repositories to fully experience Kodi.

To do that, you must install Genesis on Kodi.

We’ll talk more about how to install Genesis on Kodi in another super guide very soon.

As mentioned before, Kodi isn’t great because it is a media player that plays a lot of content, but because it is one of the few media players which are open source.

Kodi media player is open source.

ANyone with enough technical expertise can change Kodi and its functionality.

See where we are going with this?

Right.

Kodi add-ons.

If a person has enough technical skills, then that person can develop Kodi add-ons.

Thankfully, a lot of people have the necessary technical skills and that’s why we have tons of great Kodi add-ons which deliver high-quality content to Kodi for free.

Because of these Kodi add-ons, users can stream YouTube via Kodi and can stream content from other streaming websites as well.

Of course, you will need to have an account on any given streaming website, whether paid or free, to actually stream content from that streaming site to Kodi.

As mentioned before, you can avail hundreds of Kodi plug-ins.

This means, you have at your disposal, multiple streaming sources.

One of the most relevant reasons why people want to make use of Kodi media player with Roku is because of the Exodus Kodi add-on.

If you consume a lot of media then Kodi with Exodus on Roku will form the best way to consume a massive quantity and quality of content.

This guide will also discuss how to download Kodi Exodus add-on just for Roku.

Moreover, by the end of this guide, you will know everything there is to know about how to get Kodi on Roku.

Interested In Live TV?

Then Kodi can help you as well.

You will need to install some Kodi add-ons that enable Live TV on Kodi.

We will discuss more about this issue in an upcoming guide as well.

Now, the thing you need to know about Kodi add-ons is this:

There are official Kodi add-ons and then there are unofficial Kodi add-ons.

To get the best content possible, you need to use both.

Some unofficial Kodi add-ons even allow you to stream content from torrent files and other content sites.

And we’re not going to lie:

Some of these unofficial Kodi add-ons even allow you to stream pirate movies.

Add TV series and all other types of premium content to that list too.

And Kodi will allow you to stream them all, FOR FREE.

Should I Go For Kodi And Roku 3 Or Kodi And Roku 4?

Roku_Netflix
Netflix on Roku? Possible.

Of course, this is a complex question.

But we can simplify it a bit.

See, all Roku media boxes use the same software.

In other words, they are all written in C/ C++ and hence are the language’s native application.

And that is the reason why installing Kodi on Roku isn’t really possible.

Roku can change its software though.

And when that happens, we hope it brings support for Kodi as well.

How To Use Kodi or XBMC on Roku (Or More Specifically on Roku 3)

As we have mentioned before, the best way currently is to use another device to install Kodi and then stream the content from there to Roku.

Kodi supports all Android version and hence if you have an older Android smartphone lying around, you can use that to stream content.

You can even use an Android tablet for this purpose.

Kodi works with everything Android.

So here are the steps,

  1. First, you install Kodi on any Android device
  2. Then you use an HDMI cable or even a Micro USB cable to connect that Android device with your TV in order to stream content
  3. You can also cast the Android device’s screen to your Roku.
This setup does not require any extra charges.
In other words, it is almost free.
And offers some extra features when compared to a situation where you have Kodi on Roku.

To upgrade the functionality of Roku you may install Plex on it.

Plex is just like Kodi, except that it works with Roku.

There are lots of guides on how to use an old Android smartphone/tablet with Kodi media player on the internet and we’ll come with our comprehensive one very shortly.

Do you Have A Smart TV?

If you one of the few people who have a Smart TV that is running on Android then you’re in luck.

You can install Kodi on your Samsung Smart TV and then stream content.

To know how to install Kodi on any Android set-top box read this guide.

And read this guide to learn how to install Kodi on a Smart TV set.

Of course, there is a strong possibility that you may not have the required hardware and hence are unable to benefit from the above-mentioned solutions.

If you don’t have an Android device or you don’t want to install Kodi on your mobile device and stream it to your Roku (maybe you like browsing the net while watching something) then you should get an Amazon Fire Stick or Amazon Fire TV.

You can directly install kodi onto these devices for streaming and they are also pretty cheap.

to find out how to install kodi directly onto an Amazon Fire stick..

If you want a Fire Stick, then you can buy one from Amazon

How To Jailbreak Your Roku?

Is it even possible?

Yes, it is possible according to videos on Youtube.

Many people have done it according to many search results on Google.

And many have been doing it for the past several months according to posts shared on social media.

But what are the facts?

The facts are,

  • Roku doesn’t have Android support
  • It doesn’t work with Linux

And that means, no one can jailbreak Roku at the moment.

There is no facility to even modify Roku OS.

You can’t remove any restrictions either.

Roku is a locked down device that maintains strict control over the whole architecture of the device.

So can you?

Can someone jailbreak any Roku?

The answer is no.

You can’t.

Nobody can.

Some people think that if you want to jailbreak Roku then that means you want to consume content that is pirated via Roku.

But we won’t say that.

All we will say is this:

You can’t do that on Roku.

At least there isn’t a direct way.

The only way is to install the open source media player Kodi on your desktop computer or even your smartphone and then cast the device’s screen directly to your Roku device.

We’ll repeat that you can’t install Kodi on any Roku in a direct manner.

But casting another device’s screen can work.

Some people have good TV sets that come with two and sometimes even more HDMI ports.

If that’s the case with you then you can purchase a device known as Amazon FireStick.

And then use that Amazon Firestick by slotting it right into your TV’s extra HDMI slot.

There are lots of simple guides on the internet that teach you how to do that.

We’ll come up with ours very soon.

Roku Updates

Roku has carved a massive niche for itself in the streaming media devices market.

It is now extremely popular and people should give all credit to the media device the people behind Roku have made.

Roku allows users to stream content from many channels which are free.

You can even watch some movies for free.

But there are paid alternatives available as well.

And if you are a huge media buff then we think you should go for that.

Again, you can’t jailbreak Roku.

But if anyone could, then Roku would easily become the best streaming media device in the world.

Of course, that is all hypothetical stuff.

No one needs to pay any attention to it.

In any case, Roku is still great.

Why?

Because what other options do you have?

Currently, you have streaming options such as,

  • Netflix
  • Amazon Video
  • Hulu
  • Netflix

And that is about it.

There is no other major streaming service in the market today.

Yes, there are other options such as Google Play movies and the like but they aren’t that good.

Of course, Roku allows you to play Google Play movies as well.

But you’ll have to pay a small sum of money to Google Play movies in order to watch a movie in HD.

What if you want to stream some other form of content on Roku?

We’re glad to inform you that the basic process remains the same.

Buy a subscription for your favorite streaming service but stream the content from a Roku device.

You Can’t JailBreak Roku. Stop Wishing For It

It’s not even an important question.

Because there is no way to jailbreak Roku.

If you have other questions like these then don’t hesitate to ask us those by using the comment section below this super awesome guide.

Roku Features You Should Know About

Roku_on_laptop
It doesn’t matter which device you want to watch content on. If you know how to install Kodi on Roku then everything will fall into place.

Listen, even if you don’t know how to install Kodi on Roku, there is plenty of stuff Roku can do on its own that might interest you.

Sounds right?

Right?

Roku can stream content from over 2500 channels.

And all Roku devices come with these channels.

This makes Roku one hell of a media streaming set-top box.

And most of all, Roku only requires an internet connection to stream content.

It can stream content to your TV as well if you happen to have an HDMI cable lying nearby.

Want more?

Great.

Because there is more.

Roku also comes with a Remote Control.

You can then control Roku from a distance.

Moreover, you can even interchange remotes between iOS devices, Android devices, and Roku devices.

This is where Kodi also comes into the equation.

It is also an open source media player.

And that’s why we think that whenever Kodi on Roku becomes possible, it will form an unstoppable combination.

Not right now though.

Kodi doesn’t support Roku and Roku doesn’t support Kodi.

We will have to play the waiting game till something changes.

Roku people would do well to pay attention to the demands of the people because they want to install Kodi on Roku.

And Roku can increase its market share if it allows support for media players such as Kodi.

Some people say that there are guides out there on the internet which show you how to Jailbreak Roku and you can search Google for it if you want to.

You already know our answer on this matter.

Main Roku Features

  • Roku doesn’t support Kodi but can stream content from it in FHD
  • Roku 4 is the latest and the greatest and can stream 4K content with ease
  • You can make use of Roku 4 on your HDTV as well
  • Roku has a shortcut button on its remote which allows quick access to sites like Netflix and Hulu
  • Roku also has the ability to search other streaming content providers all around the globe
  • The device also allows connection to WiFi networks. So if you want to stream the best content while you are in a hotel then you can do it with Roku.
  • How can we not mention the screen mirroring feature? Roku supports screen mirroring if you have an Android or Windows device.
THough Roku 1 can’t use screen casting feature
  • Roku also supports Netflix account profiles.
This feature is essential if you want to stream content from Netflix via Roku.
  • This media box allows fast streaming speed from streaming sites like YouTube and Netflix

Is Installing Kodi on Roku The Best Idea? Maybe Not.

People trust great devices.

And Roku is one of them.

That is the reason why so many people are buying it at the moment.

See, it doesn’t really matter if you can or can’t install Kodi on Roku or even any other Android application.

The thing is, even without those enhancements, Roku is a complete media box.

Roku can stream anything, anytime and anywhere.

But it can’t stream Torrent files.

Why?
Because it is illegal.

It is illegal to stream via Torrents in the US and in the UK.

So if you live in the US or in the UK then you must take great care you don’t stream Torrent files via Roku.

Of course you can always use a VPN service to hide yourself and protect your privacy by changing your IP.

If you would like to use a VPN service with your Roku device with or without Kodi then the VPN service provider we recommend is IPVanish.

IPVanish is the best VPN service provider for most purposes and for good reason.

  • IPvanish is fast and you need that if you want to stream HD content
  • It is secure, reliable and economical when we take into consideration the number of features it offers and all the other stuff
  • It has great encryption technologies which means it does a fantastic job of hiding your computer while you work or watch online.
  • IPVanish also comes with a money-back guarantee. So the user is literally at zero risk when buying IPVanish packages.

To sign up for IPVanish from the

Roku Best Features

With Roku, you can access all TV series and major movies.

And the best part is that you aren’t doing anything illegal while watching content via Roku.

You don’t have to even think about law enforcement agencies busting your door because you are using Roku.

Of course, with Kodi the situation changes.

Kodi doesn’t really support all those torrent files.

But no one has said the same for third party developers.

They make unofficial Kodi add-ons that work flawlessly with Torrent files.

And they do work.

The only problem is that if you use them then you risk going to jail.

Of course you can always use a VPN service provider to protect yourself.

In this case too, IPVanish is the VPN service provider we recommend.

to sign up for IPVanish right now.

On the other hand, with Roku you don’t need any extra piece of software.

Using Roku is totally safe.

But Kodi isn’t stable.

Kodi has a lot of sources that say they stream everything from movies to sports events, but they rarely keep their word.

Hence, users face a tremendous amount of issues along with annoying errors when they run Kodi.

Of course, the problems are compounded when you face “no source or error” messages in the middle of streams.

And you can’t really go the official route.

While official Kodi add-ons are more stable and legal, they don’t offer high quality content.

They are also restricted in terms of variety of content.

In short, official Kodi add-ons are boring.

List Of Channels Which Come Free With Roku

Roku_streaming
Want to watch everything from the comfort of your couch or bed? Great. Get Roku and then try to install Kodi on Roku

If Roku is known for one thing then it is its list of free channels.

Don’t get us wrong:

Roku’s free list of channels is anything but ordinary.

In fact, we think there are legitimate high-quality channels on Roku list as well.

With Roku you can watch channels such as,

  • History
  • Fox
  • And many others

And you don’t have to pay a single extra dime to watch these channels.

Of course, you will need a decent internet connection.

And if you want to stream 4K content then you will need a fast internet connection.

The same holds true for FHD and HD content as well.

So before you buy another Roku device, make sure you go through its list of free channels to see if there is something that interests you.

You can go to the official Roku website and have a look at the official list there.

You can also click on Top Free channels and search for your favorite one there as well.

Remember, all content provided via these channels is free.

These come as a part of your Roku device purchase.

And guess what?

The most popular channel that Roku offers is YouTube.

Great isn’t it?

Roku is also selling those 4K Television sets that you have heard so much about from your friends.

If you are one of those who want to buy a 4K TV, we say that Roku’s Smart TV isn’t a bad choice.

They definitely deserve your attention.

Plex Vs Kodi

Roku_free_channels
Which is the best? We Think Kodi. But you can form your own opinion.

The reason why we want to talk about Plex in this guide is that it is a media player just like Kodi.

The only difference here is that Roku supports Plex and doesn’t support Kodi.

If there are two best media players in the world then these two are it.

They make the perfect software application for your home theater entertainment computer.

Both are pretty much similar to each other in terms of their overall offerings.

But a few critical features separate them quite comprehensively.

And while we are on that subject, let’s not completely ignore each’s customization options as well.

There is a good chance that if you are reading this guide on Roku then you may already have bought Roku.

If you have then that is great.

If you haven’t then you better do so quick.

Because Plex can give you something similar to what Kodi would have given you had it supported Roku.

Since you can’t have Kodi on Roku there is no point in thinking about it.

We say, screw Kodi and use Plex.

If you don’t have a Roku device then this next bit is important for you.

Kodi Pros & Cons

Kodi obviously has an advantage over all other media players because of its vibrant third-party Kodi add-ons.

Moreover, there is hardly a media player out there that is more customizable than Kodi.

You can completely change the looks of Kodi with Kodi add-ons and that is great.

Kodi’s ecosystem is similar to the Android ecosystem.

You have lots of Kodi add-ons to chose from and all of them come for free.

Moreover, Kodi is one of the best open source media players.

In other words, if you have the skills then you can build something great for Kodi too.

That is the reason why no one has tried to regulate the add-on market.

You can even find unofficial Kodi add-ons which allow you to search for and watch illegal content such as copyrighted movies and TV series.

Of course you need to have the necessary technical know-how in order to set up Kodi add-ons.

There are tons of other features as well but we won’t talk about them here.

One downside of using Kodi is that its third-party Kodi add-ons aren’t that reliable.

Most of them don’t deliver the goods, is what we mean to say.

But Kodi is free for everyone.

And when something is free, it is slightly unethical to complain about it.

If something is free and it sucks, then you can simply not use it.

That’s it.

No need to bad mouth it.

But since Kodi has become so popular we have to comment on its weaknesses as well.

Kodi also doesn’t require a beasty PC to get to work.

It will work on any of your computers no matter how old they are or how weak they are on paper in terms of hardware specifications.

Kodi can work with HTPC and Amazon Fire TV as well.

Heck, it even works with Raspberry PI.

Basically, you can use Kodi right now without spending a single dollar.

All of this makes Kodi a very hard choice to resist.

But the problems with Kodi are also quite prominent.

You need to do a lot of work before Kodi lets you access premium content.

Kodi is open source but it isn’t as polished as some of its competitors.

Plex, for example, looks like some professionals really burned the midnight oil to make it so good.

Plex also has a better user interface if you really think about it.

It is ahead of Kodi in terms of its UI and of course, it too can play all types of content.

Plex Pros & Cons

Plex can thank its existence to Kodi partially.

Coders behind Plex have clearly used Kodi as their inspiration.

But Kodi isn’t all that original either.

As mentioned before, it came into existence from the ashes of XBMC in 2008.

Kodi changed its path and its name.

Plex did something similar.

But it became more user friendly as a result.

Plex is not open source if you were wondering about it.

And hence the developers behind Plex have a huge say in how the software progresses into the future.

You can’t mess with their product that much.

Moreover, it is hard to watch any pirated content on Plex.

Plex is also not as customizable as Kodi.

But because of the tight developer control, Plex has sleek features.

To stream content on any device like,

  • Laptop
  • Smart tv
  • Mobile
  • Tablet
  • Roku
  • Amazon Firestick

all you have to do is to set up a single main server.

And it will take care of all your streaming needs.

With Plex, you can also engage in file sharing activities.

It has a multi-platform support too.

In other words, if you want to you can use Plex on tons of devices.

Plex also has a paid version.

It lets you set up exclusive server which is great for streaming.

The paid Plex version also allows users to sync their media libraries with Plex’s cloud server.

This allows users to stream their content from any place on earth provided they have a reasonable internet connection.

As mentioned more, Kodi wins when it comes to customization options.

Plex also doesn’t have as much Live TV for free as Kodi has.

In the end, to get the best out of Plex you need money.

However, to get the best of Kodi all you need is time and some patience.

Kodi Top Features Which Make It Ideal For Roku

Roku_on_smartphone
With free content, if you also want live streaming then it is a must that someday Kodi on Roku becomes possible.

Kodi is famous for two things:

Copyrighted content streaming and free stuff.

As indicated earlier as well, the fact that Kodi is open source helps its marketing cause a lot.

People can add as much content to the Kodi ecosystem as they want.

And all of that is because of its great Kodi add-ons.

Kodi has content from all corners of the globe.

And that is only possible because of its unofficial Kodi add-ons.

You can also live stream a lot of premium content via Kodi as well.

It doesn’t matter where you live.

You could live in India and be just fine.
Living in Dubai?

No problem.

Kodi is there for you.

Kodi Extra Features

We mentioned before as well that Kodi is the best media player because it can also stream high quality content from sources such as Torrents.

And it can stream Torrent content right to your TV screen.

All you have to do is install some Torrent Kodi add-ons and you are all set.

To stream content from Torrent files, you don’t need to spend a single dime.

Third party developers and the rest will take good care of you with their unofficial Kodi add-ons.

But of course, you have to be careful with unofficial Kodi add-ons.

Some of them are illegal to use in many countries.

But because Kodi add-ons are so great, so many Roku users want to get a taste of them.

And that’s why so many people search for how to install Kodi on Roku.

If you are going to watch content via illegal Kodi add-ons, then you better use a VPN service.

That is essential if you live in countries such as the US or the UK.

As mentioned earlier as well, IPVanish is the best VPN service provider for this purpose.

It supports all Kodi add-ons and has excellent privacy protecting technologies.

To sign up for IPVanish with a money-back guarantee

Kodi is more successful than other media players because it can tap into Torrent files and stream their content.

That is why people want to learn how to install Kodi on Roku.

But there are some obvious reasons as well.

These reasons are as follows,

Why People Want Kodi on Roku?

If you have Kodi on Roku or on any other device, you can listen to anything.

        • So you spend all that time repeating yourself for the 30th time, and think that after someone tries an alternative that you said in the first little section, they will change their mind on this being poorly written and a waste of time? They didn’t say your information wasn’t correct, they just said it was a waste of time, because the rambling, much like my reply here is just a rambling statement that you could have gotten from just accepting that the above two comments were correct in the fact that this is a poorly written article that could have been satisfied in the first paragraph. (See what I did there? I over complicated my comment just to prove a point of “What a waste of time reading this, Poorly Written.” just like the first comment said.

          • Hi Master.
            Thanks for the comment.
So you think if I had just said “no Kodi on Roku, and that’s it folks”, you would have just said “Well, that was quick. I guess I’ll just watch Kodi on my pc now”?
            No.
You would have kept on searching for more.
In essence, this article saves you time in the sense that there are some alternatives mentioned and now you know for sure that there is no way to get Kodi on Roku directly.
There are some indirect methods as mentioned above.

  1. This was so painful to read. How many times can you mention that Kodi isn’t available for Roku, and then follow up with the benefits of Kodi? Zero useful information.

  2. What was the point of this entire thrown up jumble of words just to say that roku isn’t a viable option and that you can use anything else? How is the publisher of this article have a decade of experience when he can’t even properly format his own article?

    • Thank you for the feedback. The thing is, we’re trying to give people the right workaround. Currenly you can’t actually put Kodi on Roku. But there are legitimate workarounds. Which we are trying to give to people here.

  3. Just wondering, what color are the sunsets on your planet? Most horrific article I’ve seen in years! May you spend every second of every person’s life you wasted in the special purgatory reserved for child molesters. And people who talk at the theater.

    • We have tried to list alternatives as well. Kodi on Roku (for now) doesn’t exist. But it always helps to have a workaround. There are many screen mirroring apps you can use to do that. But instead of going through all the trouble, just get an Android TV and then install Kodi on it.

    • We find it unfortunate that you think you wasted twenty minutes.
Kodi on Roku isn’t possible without a mirroring app.
We have just tried to list some alternatives.

Sometimes we have to provide as many alternatives as possible and explain each and everything so that even a novice can understand.

  4. This article could be summed up in as little as one paragraph. Kodi isn’t available on Roku. Plex is. If you want to stream torrents or have add-ons, buy a Firestick & install Kodi. If not, add Plex to Roku. The end.

      Great effort.
We, on the other hand, have to make sure that we explain each and everything to users of all backgrounds.

As explained time and time again, it is not a waste of time.
At least now, you have a list of alternatives and know that currently, there is not a single working solution for getting Kodi on Roku directly. This will change in the future though.

As mentioned before as well, the solutions we have presented are not working for the majority of readers here. We are trying to find new solutions for such users.

  5. I believe this whole article was written by a bot. There is no way that anyone could write an article that repeated itself over and over, offering nothing that couldn’t have been summed up in three sentences, and then believe that they offered anything remotely useful. Here, let me edit the article for time and space. “Kodi is not available for Roku, but you can get it on other streaming devices, or even stream it to your Roku from a network connected device that does allow you to install Kodi.”

  6. Thanks for the info. There are a lot of haters in the comments, but I found it useful. Not all of us are media and tech savvy. We need our hands held through the learning process. Thanks again.
