Moreover, we will also show you how you can watch all of your favorite movies and TV programs as quickly as possible.
If you want to become a part of a higher streaming experience then you will need two things.
First, you will need a subscription to Spectrum TV.
Second, you will need this guide which will show you how to stream anything outside the US and that too at a convenient time of your choosing.
We know that there are a ton of other online consumers searching for this guide.
So what are you waiting for?
Read on and join the community.
But before we actually get to the actual steps that you will need to take in order to watch Spectrum TV outside the US, we want to answer some other rather pressing questions.
Mainly,
Table of Contents
Can I watch Spectrum TV overseas?
Or rather, is it even available abroad?
Well, the answer to that question is slightly complex.
Allow us to explain.
If you go to the official website of Spectrum TV right now, you will not be able to stream any kind of content.
Instead of that, what you will see is a blocked message.
Yes.
Spectrum TV will block all of your access to any and all of its content if you do not live in the US as a resident.
So what should you do now?
Well, you should get in line.
That’s what you should do.
The primary reason why Spectrum TV does not want to become a content provider for an international audience is that it does not want to get into legal trouble.
In order to stay away from all that nasty stuff, it terminates its services for those users who are not in the US.
The mechanism that it makes use of in order to do that is geo-restrictions.
Yes.
Just like all other good streaming services such as BBC iPlayer and Netflix, Spectrum TV also makes use of geo-restrictions.
It should become crystal clear to you by now that Spectrum TV content is meant only for people who live in the US.
This is the only way Spectrum TV can keep loyal to its distribution and licensing agreements.
In fact, the only method that a foreign country may use to stream the content which is available on Spectrum TV is by purchasing proper copyrights for the content.
Unless that actually begins to happen, not a single soul living outside the United States of America can ever become eligible to access the content that Spectrum TV has for US users.
Of course, Security Gladiators believes in a world of positive thinking and literally infinite possibilities.
More specifically, there is a way to combat geo-restrictions and bypass them without my trouble.
All that you really need to do is to sign up for a good VPN service provider.
On that note, perhaps we should also mention how in the world is a streaming service like Spectrum TV able to know where you are and where you come from.
Spectrum TV scans a given user’s access attempt and then locates the user’s IP address.
So where does the IP address come from?
Well, essentially, your internet service provider is the one who assigns you with a unique IP address.
Spectrum TV uses that to know your location.
Now, if Spectrum TV detects that you are making use of a non-US IP address while trying to have access to this content, it will block you from doing that.
We hope we do not have to explain to you why you need to find a way to change your original IP address.
As mentioned at the top as well, the easiest and perhaps the quickest way to change your IP address is to sign up for a VPN service provider.
How to unblock Spectrum TV abroad and outside the US (a step by step guide)
In this section, we will talk more about the exact steps that you need to take in order to watch Spectrum TV outside the US.
The steps that we will explain below are easy to follow and simple enough to implement quickly.
So here we go.
Step 1
First, it goes without saying that you need to have a valid subscription to a good VPN service.
Our research shows that there is no single VPN service provider that works for all streaming services and all users, so it is best to research a little about the best VPN service providers that the VPN industry has to offer currently.
Since, we do not want you to waste your time doing that, we have written a complete guide on the best VPN service providers in the world right now.
Click here to read that guide right now.
Of course, it would be very easy for us to name just one or two of the top VPN service providers.
There are ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and IPVanish.
But the problem with specifying VPN services for all readers is that it is not the most efficient approach.
In other words, while these VPN services are indeed world class, they are not world class for every user.
Since each VPN is different and each VPN user is different, a single VPN service cannot possibly satisfy the needs of all VPN users.
Therefore, the best approach, in this case, is to read up briefly on the best VPNs that the industry has to offer and then use that knowledge to make the right call.
Again, click here if you want to read more about the best VPN service providers available in the market today.
This is just a short explanation of why we stay away from recommending a single good VPN service provider for the time being.
Once a big enough gap opens up between the best VPN service provider and the second best VPN service provider, we will make sure that we change our recommendation to reflect that.
For now, it is safe to say that you should sign up for a VPN service that not only covers all the basic features of a VPN service but also offers something more.
And trust us, since you want to stream content from a site like Spectrum TV, you will need a VPN service provider that offers more than just the standard set of VPN features.
Yes.
Some VPN services do cost a lot.
But our research has shown time and time again that signing up for a VPN service is always worth the money.
Especially in the long run.
Step 2
Now, keep in mind that each good VPN service comes with dedicated and custom VPN app that the user has to first download and then install.
After that, the user should not have a problem in getting up and running with the VPN app.
It is here that we should mention that you should sign up for those VPN service providers that offer easy to use and user-friendly VPN apps for all major platforms.
Make no mistake, if you are signing up for a decent VPN service provider, it will have apps for all popular internet-enabled devices.
Step 3
Once you have managed to get hold of the VPN app, you should try to search for the VPN server that you want to connect to.
When you have found such a VPN server, you need to (you guessed it) connect to it.
Good VPN apps clearly show you which server location you have currently selected and which you have connected to.
VPN apps with better user interfaces actually give users a complete list of recommendations if the user himself/herself does not know which server is the best for his/her task.
Step 4
In this step, you should finalize your VPN server choice and then connect to that server.
Since we are trying to watch Spectrum TV abroad, you will need to connect to any given VPN server that is located in the US.
Once you do that, you should have an American IP address.
You probably do not need us to tell you that once you have successfully connected to a US server, your IP address will change to a US one.
That will make all sites and services available on the internet to think of you as someone who is accessing their content from the US.
While in truth, you are still sitting on your chair in your home/office.
That is hard to believe but this is the magic of modern VPN services.
Step 5
If you have followed all the steps in order and properly, then you should have no problems in streaming content from sites like Spectrum TV despite the fact that Spectrum TV has geo-restrictions on its content.
Your VPN app will make sure that Spectrum TV would not be able to view you (the user) as someone who is not from the US.
You can thank your VPN app for providing you with the connection that you needed in order to access Spectrum TV content.
On that note, we should also mention that since you now have a US IP address, you should be able to access content from any given American streaming service or channel.
How to install the official Spectrum TV app?
The process of installing the Spectrum TV app on your streaming device is fairly simple.
At this point, we will assume that you have a valid VPN subscription.
We will also assume that you have used your VPN service to acquire a US IP address and are able to access the Spectrum TV streaming service for any given country on the map.
Now, once you have managed to install the official app, you will have all the options to view the high-quality programming that you seek and deserve on all of your internet-enabled devices simultaneously.
To get started, here are the steps that we want you to follow in order.
- First, the user should create a new username which the official Spectrum TV offers via its Sign In to Get Started category.
- Then proceed to download the official app.
While doing that, make sure that it is compatible with your internet-enabled device. - Then you should launch the official app and move forward by launching it via your favorite streaming device.
- Now, all that is left is for you to start the process of streaming high-quality content from Spectrum TV.
How to select the best VPN for Spectrum TV
As we have mentioned earlier in the guide, people who do not know how to sign up for the right VPN service are bound to run into a good number of challenges while trying to stream content from various streaming services abroad.
There are a lot of VPN services available in the market that do not provide users with the proper features which would qualify such VPN services as efficient and effective unblocking tools.
And it stands to reason that if a VPN service is not even able to unblock the streaming service of your choice then what is even the point of purchasing such a VPN service’s subscription package.
What we mean to say is that if your main aim is to stream HD content from streaming services while you are abroad, then you need to make sure that you only go for that VPN option which makes your objective possible.
At this point, a lot of review sites would point towards industry heavyweights such as ExpressVPN and others as the best VPN in the world.
But is that entirely true?
It is true that ExpressVPN has established itself as one of the best VPN services for any task really.
And for good reason.
The company offers close to 3000 VPN servers which span across a total of 94 countries.
Hence, it makes it very easy for its customers to connect to low-load VPN servers located in their favorite destinations.
On top of that, our research shows that ExpressVPN is no slouch when it comes to performance either.
It has fast VPN servers which make the experience of streaming content a breeze.
In order to offer the maximum amount of security, ExpressVPN employs advanced security features such as kill switch and industry-standard VPN protocols.
There is also a zero-log policy for users who do not want to give any kind of information to their VPN service.
If that was not enough already then ExpressVPN also has a customer service department that works 24/7.
So why don’t we just recommend ExpressVPN as the best VPN for Spectrum TV and call it a day?
It would certainly mean less work for us and for the reader.
However, there are some problems with the ExpressVPN VPN service.
For example, it is expensive.
Secondly, the maximum number of devices that ExpressVPN supports is around 3.
When you are paying this much for a VPN service it stands to reason that it would at least allow the user to connect many devices.
ExpressVPN does come with a 30-day money-back guarantee though.
Now, the second VPN service that review sites like to recommend a lot is NordVPN.
There is no doubt about the fact that NordVPN is a fantastic VPN service that knows how to properly implement SmartPlay technology in order to enable users to unlock streaming content that has geo-restrictions on it from all corners of the globe.
NordVPN also has a double VPN feature which enables users to pass their traffic through a total of 2 VPN servers.
This enhances user security.
NordVPN, just like ExpressVPN, has a wide range of VPN servers and region coverage.
Such features are ideal for people who want to have the option of having VPN servers available in different regions of the world.
The other thing we want readers to take note of here is that NordVPN offers over 5200 VPN servers.
Combine that with the fact that NordVPN has a strict zero-logs policy and a 24/7 live chat feature and it is easy to see why it regularly makes it to the top of many best VPNs list.
Just like ExpressVPN, NordVPN also offers a 30-day money back guarantee to all users.
So is NordVPN the perfect VPN for you if you want to watch Spectrum TV outside the US?
Well, maybe.
It will depend on your needs.
If you are only looking to sign up for a VPN service because you want to stream HD content then NordVPN maybe a bit of an overkill.
Not to mention, when it comes to consistency NordVPN is not the best.
By now, you should start to understand the point that we are trying to make.
There is no single best VPN for Spectrum TV for any and all users.
You could try out some of the lesser-known but well-reputed VPN services such as Bullet VPN and SurfShark VPN.
On the face of it, SurfShark VPN is a relatively new VPN service provider.
However, in terms of features and privacy policy, it has already managed to become one of the VPN services to watch out for.
SurfShark says that it does not keep logs and that means it is a good option for users who want more privacy.
But SurfShark has the problem of not having fast VPN servers.
Moreover, SurfShark VPN servers also shown an unacceptable amount of inconsistency.
This VPN service provider does offer a live chat feature and our research shows that it is responsive and helpful.
Hence, users who want some help in setting up a VPN service should give this VPN a try.
Of course, we cannot recommend SurfShark as a good VPN for Spectrum TV for the simple reason that it does not cater well to iOS and Mac users and does not offer the industry-standard OpenVPN protocol.
On the other hand, we have BulletVPN which is another VPN service that focuses on speed and security for all its customers.
This VPN is based in Estonia and can boast some key locations on the map.
However, its server network is a bit too small.
Even though it has strong security features and good privacy policy, users who are looking to unblock streaming services from different countries should look someplace else.
This is actually a good time to mention that you do not have to waste time researching and thinking about which VPN service will be the best for you.

Spectrum App has a check to make sure it is on a Spectrum connection. Please google the spectrum “home check”
Hi Scott.
Thanks for the comment.
If you go to the official website and then check from there, you will find that Spectrum programming is available for both Spectrum connection and non-spectrum connection. The TV shows that you will have available on your device will depend on your subscription and whether or not you are connected to a Spectrum connection at a given moment.
Thank you for this article.
I brought a Roku from the USA back to Costa Rica hoping to get some channels using my brother’s USA Spectrum account and my NordVPN.
I don’t have a router good enough to install NordVPN on and since you can’t put a proxy server or run VPN on Roku I did this hoping for the best:
– connected my Mac to DSL router with ethernet cable
– shared Mac’s Wifi connection (Sys Prefs, sharing)
– connected Nord to USA server
– connected Roku to the Mac sharing its Wifi
– and….
The 5 or 6 Roku channel apps I tried fail with a message that says sorry, channel unavailable since you are not in a servicable region or something similar. PlutoTV, Cartoon Network, amc, IFC and ComedyCentral are all unavailable with NordVPN.
So it looks like Spectrum knows I’m on a VPN?
Thanks!
HI Marcello.
Thanks for the comment.
It is possible.
What we will recommend is to change VPN servers within the US.
If that doesn’t work out, you need to disable your geo-location feature on your device.
i did that as well. doesnt work. reference code from spectrum tv app: IFE-1002
it doesn’t work. error code shown from spectrum app: IFE-1002 right away.
