In this comprehensive guide, we will talk about what is Terrarium TV and everything that you really need to know about Terrarium TV.
So let’s get started.
First of all, we want to talk to those people who have had this nagging feeling of paying a bit too much for their TV needs, multiple times.
The thing we want such people to know is that they are not alone.
Cable TV and others have made a bit of a reputation of engaging is pretty constant price gouging.
There is also the fact that people are still aware that there was a time in the not too distant past that all TV came for free.
All that people had to do then was to watch some advertisements and they were good to go.
Because that isn’t the case anymore, more and more people are constantly looking for various ways and methods to pay the minimum amount of money for their TV consumption.
These developments along with others are exactly what gave rise to services such as Terrarium TV.
Our research shows that Terrarium TV is a tantalizing platform for those online users who want a seemingly endless supply of free content of any type and any kind.
Terrarium TV is for all content and all people.
There is one slight problem though.
Terrarium TV is too good.
Too good to be true.
And in the real world, if there is something that is too good to be true, it is usually not true.

What is Terrarium TV (The in-a-nutshell edition)
You may remember a time (a couple of years ago) when Popcorn Time had managed to become all the rage.
Popcorn Time became so popular because of the simple fact that it had BitTorrent technology to count on which powered it under the hood.
To be honest, Popcorn Time did allow users to watch plenty of TV shows and movies for a, in our experience, low low cost of zero.
That is, absolutely nothing.
The only unfortunate thing in Popcorn Time’s case is that it allowed users to essentially make use of pirate content and that too on demand.
Hence, it did not take internet service providers, or ISPs, and other Hollywood copyright groups a long time to come knocking on the door and demanding some compensation.
And after they came asking for Popcorn Time, Popcorn Time was no more.
Similarly, when the time came for Terrarium TV to come on the scene and attract customers, everyone in the streaming community thought that it looked pretty similar to the now-defunct Popcorn Time.
Terrarium TV did all the things that Popcorn Time did.
It provided users with content that it itself sourced via various places on the internet.
Not only that but Terrarium also offered online consumers a sleek user interface that actually worked.
Since the very beginning Terrarium TV marketed itself as an Android-only platform.
Meaning that it would only work on those devices that had the Android Operating System powering them.
Behind the scenes though, Terrarium TV operated a bit differently from all that came before it.
Terrarium TV, at least on the surface, provided users access to the same service and the same idea as all the services that came before it.
However, Terrarium TV did so by offering a better-looking package.
Naturally, everyone thought that Terrarium TV, just like Popcorn Time before it, had its days pretty much numbered.
Does Terrarium TV exist anymore?
Not long ago, everyone was pretty clear how to find Terrarium TV.
All that online users had to do was to go to the official website of Terrarium TV and then download Terrarium TV.
The official website of Terrarium TV provided users with all the instructions that they needed to move forward and have a good time from the comfort of their ouch.
Then, the inevitable came.
The official website of Terrarium TV suddenly vanished into thin air.
Shortly afterward, the community saw the disappearance of the official Terrarium TV project which was hosted on GitHub.
People tried to follow more news but to no avail.
The team behind Terrarium TV did not give any explanation on why it decided to just go away.
So no one got surprised when the community assumed that the creators of the project just gave up on it and decided to move on with life.
There is no doubt about the fact that Terrarium TV has pretty much had an existence which was troubled from the start.
With that said, it is also true that Terrarium TV users have shown dogged determination to keep supporting each other.
In other words, they still have a desire to watch content via Terrarium TV even after it had become pretty clear that the developers of the project left it and abandoned the official application.
Many media sources then revealed that the saga had come to an end for better or worse.
And on that fateful day of September 11, 2018, the official app developers (aptly named NitroXenon) finally sent all Terrarium TV users a message which informed them that the developers had shut down Terrarium TV for good.
The message also told Terrarium TV users that the developer would enable the app to automatically close itself and die starting the end of last year’s September.
Apart from that, the developer of Terrarium TV also mentioned that he/she had made no plans to actually take the app and make it open source.
Because of that, the community had no choice but to come to terms with the fact that no other developer would have the opportunity to take the reins.
As it turns out, that was not even the end of the bad news for Terrarium TV and Terrarium TV users.
From a legal standpoint
As we have already mentioned before in this guide that right now, as far as the legal issues are concerned, Terrarium TV exists purely in a grey area.
Some say otherwise.
The thing you need to understand here is that pretty similar to all popular torrent sites, the official Terrarium TV app actually did not host any kind of pirated content.
In simpler terms, it did not serve copyrighted content itself.
All that Terrarium TV app did was that it collected all the links to in-demand videos from various places on the internet.
You should note here that Terrarium TV did not create anything on its own.
The links to the content that Terrarium TV provided on Terrarium TV users already existed on the internet and were available to any and all users.
So technically speaking, Terrarium TV did not do anything illegal.
However, the thing is that internet service providers hardly ever think about what is legal and what is not.
If internet service providers do not like something, they usually move to eradicate it in the softest possible manner.
This, along with many other reasons is why if you search for Terrarium TV on any search engine of your choice, all that you will see are ads for VPN services.
There is hardly anything on the internet related to Terrarium TV if one does not count advertisements related to the VPNs that one could use for Terrarium TV.
You should have clarity that Terrarium TV was not just another version of Popcorn Time.
Popcorn Time essentially pointed users to various torrent sources and streamed content from that.
On the other hand, Terrarium TV actually did the hard job of scraping the internet to find links to various in-demand videos from all over the web.
This ensured that Terrarium TV had a ton of content from legitimate online streaming services as well.
Whenever a user wanted to watch something of value, the official Terrarium TV app gathered all the relevant links and then used those links to start the streaming process.
The official Terrarium TV website actually told users by mentioning in one of its site’s sections that Terrarium TV contained only the links to various other websites on the web.
It also mentioned that Terrarium TV did not upload or host any kind of videos or media files or films.
Moreover, it also said that the service did not engage in storing any kind of media streams or related links on any given server that it owned and operated.
Furthermore, the official Terrarium TV site mentioned that the service, in reality, aggregated links in a manner that was convenient and user-friendly for the, you guessed it, users.
And we have already mentioned the fact that Terrarium TV indeed succeeded in a big way to offer users a great user interface for all their online streaming needs.
Now, there is nothing inherently wrong with what Terrarium TV did or how it did it.
But the service did miss a very important point.
And that point was the legality of the content that it pointed the users towards.
We, along with many others, believe that Terrarium TV should have bothered enough to actually check that the links which it provided to Terrarium TV users were legal sources or not.
And that is where the real problem lies.
Because Terrarium TV did not take care of the legal issues, the Terrarium TV users ended up watching a lot of content that they did not know was hosted on an official TV network streaming site.
Sometimes, users would unknowingly be watching a rip of a file that was uploaded to some other online video service that no one had ever heard of.
Remember when we said that Terrarium TV technically did not do anything illegal?
Yes.
That is where we want to stop.
Why?
Because even though Terrarium TV did not do anything illegal technically, it does not mean that the service did not engage in a behavior that did not exactly thrill the likes of content providers and of course, various copyright groups and authorities.
They hated the existence of a service such as Terrarium TV.
And while it is true that the developer of the app, NitroXenon, actually never made any mention of such facts when he/she finally announced that he/she was shutting the official app down, it was not hard for everyone to imagine that the developer actually shut down the app because of the increasing pressure brought on him/her by law enforcement authorities.
However, the situation got even stranger.
What do we mean by that?
We mean that enthusiastic Terrarium TV users who did not have the courage to uninstall the official app actually started to get notifications.
These notifications warned these users that they had to uninstall the official Terrarium TV app as soon as possible (rather immediately).
The notification also informed Terrarium TV users that law enforcement authorities had begun to track their location and their actual IP addresses.
When TorrentFreak finally got around to contacting the developer of the official app, NitroXenon mentioned that the official Terrarium TV indeed engaged in tracking its users and their IP addresses.
Moreover, NitroXenon also mentioned that if law enforcement authorities asked him/her of all the user data that the app had collected, he/she would have no other choice but to comply.
Are there any good Terrarium TV alternatives?
Our research shows that the closest streaming app to Terrarium TV is Pluto TV.
It resembles Terrarium TV in lots of ways.
However, it is also different from Terrarium TV in one significant way.
Pluto TV offers content that is totally legal.
Just like Terrarium TV, Pluto TV does engage in curating content from various sources around the web.
It offers all of that content in a package that is not only simple but also easy to use and navigate.
In other words, Pluto TV has a great user interface.
After doing that, it presents all of that content via live TV channels.
Apart from that, Pluto TV also makes available on-demand high-quality content.
And while there is no doubt about the fact that the content available on Pluto TV is pretty limited, Pluto YB does a good job of rotating the channels frequently enough to keep them fresh.
You should know that you will never be able to find the wealth of high-quality and premium content which you had available for free on the official Terrarium TV application.
However, it is also true that Pluto TV is very simple.
And it provides its services on more operating systems and platforms.
Before we forget, we would like to mention the greatest feature of Pluto TV.
That feature is the cost.
Pluto TV is free.
In other words, you do not have to pay Pluto TV anything to watch content on it.
All you need to do now is that you need to stay tuned to Security Gladiators before we spin up a great guide for you on how to make use of Pluto TV to watch anything that you like.
For now, you should know that there are many other options available to you apart from Terrarium TV and Pluto TV.
There are still streaming sites like Crackle available to you.
Let’s not forget Tubi either.
Both Tubi and Crackle offer users just like you free TV shows and movies.
The layout of both these services is similar to Netflix.
Which is a good thing.
But unlike Terrarium TV, both these services offer content in terms of TV shows and movies which is purely legal to offer and stream.
Again, because of the fact that these services do not want to show you illegal content, their actual content library is pretty limited.
Especially when you compare it to Terrarium TV.
The sheer amount of high quality and free content that Terrarium TV offered to users will likely be never matched by a streaming service that offers legal and clean content.
The good thing about streaming services that offer content which is legal and safe is that you never have to worry about these streaming services and apps infecting your PC or any other device with a virus.
When was the last time you heard someone getting malware from Netflix?
Neither have we.
What you need to understand here is that it is entirely possible for any user to get through life by simply making use of the services that we have mentioned above.
You just need to give them a try.
Our research shows that if you are not a movie critic then services such as Pluto TV and Tubi along with Crackle can fulfill all of your entertainment needs and wants.
This is what we have gathered from our vast multi-year search.
But hang on.
There is more good news.
As it turns out, Tubi and Crackle along with Pluto TV are not your only choices either.
You might know this service by the name of XBMC.
Kodi offers users pretty much all of the same benefits and features of the official Terrarium TV app.
Of course, you first have to make sure that you have installed the right kind of add-ons to supercharge Kodi.
Needless to say, because of that fact it too falls in the grey area just like Terrarium TV.
But again, all depends on how you decide to make use of Kodi.
Kodi, in itself, is not illegal.
Neither is it harming anyone.
Besides, with Kodi, you always know where you should go in order to download anything and everything official on Kodi.
That is right.
You go to the official website of Kodi which has never gone down (so far).
Just make sure that once you have made your way to the official Kodi website, you download the right kind of app for your Kodi streaming device.
Thank you so much for providing such a nice information.
